Instrumentation verification Calibration of measuring instruments
Calibration is the use of a standard measurement verified each year by a certified body to compare its measurement with those taken by a customer’s probes. It is, therefore, a matter of verifying that the measurement is still good and that it has not been biased during the past period. Mecotec's experts work throughout Wallonia, Brussels and in the north of France to calibrate measuring instruments.

Benefits of instrumentation calibration
The main advantage of a calibration is that it allows you to obtain the veracity of the measurement taken by the instruments. This process has a retroactive effect and, therefore, concerns the period between the measurements taken at time T1 and the measurements taken previously at time T0. Calibration frequencies vary and are typically 6 months or 1 year. The second advantage of this process is that it allows the instrument to be adjusted if the measurements do not match the standard used.
Types of instruments likely to benefit from calibration
Below you will find a list of measuring instruments that may benefit from regular calibration:
- Temperature measurement: water loops in the pharmaceutical sector, fridge or fermenter probes in the food or pharmaceutical sectors, room temperatures in clean rooms
- Pressure measurement: freeze-dryer, autoclave, water loops, differential pressures of the premises
- Level measurement: tank levels, fermentors, Cleaning In Place stations
- Flow measurement: mainly concern water loops
- Weighing: production scales, analytical scales, fork lift, laboratory scales, analytical scales, load cells
- Speed measurements: primarily concern the rotational speed of centrifuges or the stirring speed of tanks
- Conductivity measurements: water loops, washing machines in final rinse
